This is a rare and vintage copy of a Victory Printing and Publishing Company, Inc. publication titled VIM Vol.III No.12, dated DECEMBER 1956, featuring physique photography of muscular young partially dressed men / males in posing straps or less. This magazine for Vigorous Living is published monthly, by the Victory Printing and Publishing Co., Inc., and features MIKE SILL as photographed by DAVE MARTIN on the cover. I do not believe this pocket-digest has been read. See photos for condition.
"EXHIBITIONISM is not a nice word. And it is unfortunate that the word so often used in the layman's definition of a bodybuilder.
If a man learns to paint and exhibits his work, he is admired. If a man develops a voice and sings well, he likewise gets credit. But if a man works to develop his body, he becomes some sort of "exhibitionist," suitable for public stoning.
Talent and ability are gifts from Heaven . . . but (if we follow the exhibitionist argument to a conclusion) the human body must have been produced in the Nether regions.
It seems illogical that development of the mind should be considered a lofty practice, while development of the body is somehow rather sinful.
Perhaps if more people had physiques worth exhibiting, "exhibitionism" would lose some of its shady connotations."
